One of the most significant problems facing travellers is the lack of a good understanding of spoken and written English. We need to become familiar with these languages, as it is impossible to be able to speak them fluently without knowing what they actually mean - meaning you can't really say you 'speak' English if you don't know how it works! This course will cover all aspects of spoken and written language, including vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing skills. David The world Teacher #1 happens to be a teacher with almost three decades experience in teaching English as foreign language. He is currently working with people from all over the world travelling or working abroad. He also runs The English Hub at University College Dublin. David has over three decades experience in teaching English as a foreign language, primarily to people from all over the world travelling or working abroad. He is currently working with people from all over the world, mainly of the south east of the UK and of Ireland. In addition, he runs The English Hub at University College Dublin. In this course David teaches spoken and written communication skills to cover all aspects of spoken and written communication including vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing skills for travellers going abroad on a long-term stay in a country where English is not their first language. He runs a one-day intensive course as well as a series of smaller courses covering all aspects. David also has a number of public speaking and presentation skills courses ranging from solo to group presentations. In 2018, David moved from his home in Westport to Kilkenny, Ireland after being approached to teach at the English Language Institute - the only such language school in Ireland and the UK with over 50 locations worldwide and over 15 years experience. David is also speaking on "The Art & Science of Teaching English as a Foreign Language" at the Annual Conference of the Association for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (ATEFL). This will be held in London at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre on 22 February 2018. The final day of this course will be taught by Paul Harrington, who teaches the English language to Arabic speakers, with a specialism in teaching business English to Arabic speakers. Topic #1 This part of the course is all about teaching learners with little or no knowledge of English how to correctly structure words into short sentences and then into longer ones suitable for a basic conversation. It covers simple grammar rules and a lot of useful vocabulary for daily situations, which travellers are likely to encounter while travelling abroad. Topic #2 This part of the course covers grammar rules in much more depth, explaining how to use nouns, adjectives (including the difference between comparative and superlative forms), adverbs, pronouns and verbs in both written and spoken communication. It also covers common errors in usage - such as 'that' rather than 'who', 'this' rather than 'that' etc. - which travellers are likely to make while travelling abroad. Topic #3 This part of the course covers how to break down sentences into understandable chunks using conjunction conjunctions, which are the words that connect phrases together.
